Les Misérables

Music by CLAUDE-MICHEL SCHÖNBERG, Lyrics by ALAIN BOUBLIL

The world's best-loved musical: Jean Valjean is released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, beginning a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by Police Inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways.

I first heard the Les Miz soundtrack when I was 9 years old, and I was hooked. I jumped at the chance to design this show; something I had wanted to do since I started working in theatre. With a running time of approximately 3 hours, it is the most complex, cue-intensive show I had ever done, and the timing of the over-300 cues was particularly crucial because it is sung all the way through. I sat at my desk for hours with the soundtrack CD and my script, practicing calling the show over and over until I knew I had it down.
